On Wednesday morning, Dec. 28, on Route 16, just across the county line into Nicholas County, a call came into 911 reporting of a vehicle accident into a house.

Lizemore Volunteer Fire Department and EMS was dispatched to respond to the accident. Station 9, Gauley River Volunteer Fire Department, also responded to the scene to assist. Upon arrival, emergency responders assessed that the driver of the vehicle had hit a sheet of black ice and lost control of the motor vehicle and crashed into the frame of a house nearby.
Jonathan Foster Brown was the driver and passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident.
