Clay County Board of Education members met at Lizemore Elementary on Monday, Jan. 23, for their meeting.
After approving the agenda, as well as the minutes from the previous meeting, the board approved the employment of Jennifer Paxton, as treasurer, the chief school business official for the Clay County Board of Education. This is Kevin Isaacs’ former position.
Norman Ramsey was approved as substitute extracurricular trip coordinator. Carrie Coleman was approved as substitute teacher for the 2016-2017 school year, pending certification. The resignation/retirement of Tom Ratliff as custodian at Clay Elementary School, effective Dec. 31, 2016, was approved. The resignation/retirement of Wayne Litton as mechanic, effective March 31, was approved. The resignation of Cory Stricker as assistant track and field coach at Clay County High School, effective immediately, was approved. The resignation of Robert Taylor as substitute bus operator, effective immediately, was approved.
The new principal at Lizemore Elementary then handed out certificates of achievement to several students for their outstanding performance on the standardized testing. The LSIC for Lizemore Elementary also asked the board of education to consider purchasing new desks and chairs for the students at Lizemore Elementary.
The next meeting will be Feb. 13 at the board of education building.
