The WV Natural Resources Police will hold a Hunter Education Class in Clay County at the Clay County Middle School on September 29 and 30, 2018.

The class will be held from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.  Students must attend all hours of both days of the course and pass a written and hands-on test to be certified.

Alternative Delivery testing, for those who have completed the online hunter education course, will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018.  Students must bring online vouchers with them to the class and pre-registration is required.

In 1994 West Virginia passed legislation requiring any person born on or after January 1, 1975, to present proof of certification from an approved Hunter Education course to a license agent prior to purchasing a base hunting license.

The course is open to the public and is free of charge. Students must be 10 years of age by the final day in order to receive permanent certification. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.

Class size is limited to 45 students, so pre-registration is required.  Walk-ins will only be permitted if space allows.  If you would like to register, go to: http://register-ed.com and select West Virginia from the menu.  Online registration only takes a few minutes to complete.  If you have any problems registering online, please contact Sgt. Tim White or Misty at the WV DNR District 3 office at 304-924-6211, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
