With the new leadership at Clay Senior and Community Services comes some amazing changes.
The building itself got a face lift this past month and is looking great as you pass by on main street. B and D Quality Contracting did some work to the building and gave it a fresh new paint job that really made a difference.
CSCS is always appreciative of the community’s ongoing support and generosity. They have hosted many fundraisers lately, and as always, the community has helped out tremendously. They started a fundraiser, selling apples that they display in the buildings windows. They are up to 300+ apples and hope to reach 500 in total. Apples are $1 each and the money will ensure that the seniors get to conference in May 2019. You can stop by the center to purchase your apple and see it displayed in the office windows. The center will also be charging $5 per car to park on the Rite Aid lot during the upcoming Golden Delicious Apple Festival. All proceeds will be used for senior activities and parking will be available from Thursday- Saturday. They would like to thank Rite Aid for their support with this as well.
These activities are important for the seniors of Clay County. This gives them a chance to meet new friends, catch up with old friends, and participate in things they normally may not do. The center recently celebrated National Seniors Citizen’s Day on August 21 with lunch and cake, recognizing their oldest senior, Elda Cambell at 101 years old and their youngest, Janey Jones at 60 years old. Linda Rhodes held a painting class for the seniors on Friday, August 24, 2018 where there was an amazing turnout. You can sign up to receive the newsletter from CSCS to stay up to date on upcoming events or call the center at 304-587-2468 for more information.
