The town of Gassaway suffered a large-loss fire this last week as four residential dwellings were destroyed in a fire.
The fire started a little after 5 a.m. in the morning of Nov. 5 at a home on Birch Street. The fire burnt four residential dwellings as well as a pickup truck. Only one of the dwellings was occupied at the time. That building was being rented by the WV Department of Highways for use as an office for an area WVDOH project.
Investigators with the WV State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene and have ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined and it remains under investigation.
