In Clay County, 1,127 Democratic ballots, 875 Republican ballots, and 48 nonpartisan ballots were cast for a total of 2,050 votes out of 5,550 registered voters (36.94% voter turnout).
County election totals show David Schoolcraft securing 35.35% of the vote for County Commissioner, with no Republican competition. Following Schoolcraft were Vanessa Dunigan with 33.61% of the vote, Randy Holcomb with 21.85% of the vote, and Peter Triplett with 9.18% of the vote.
Jim E. Samples ran unopposed for Prosecuting Attorney, as did Teresa Davis for Assessor.
Donny Triplett got 704 votes against Allen King’s 526 for the Sheriff’s position. Following King on the Republican ballot were Brian Mitchem with 130 votes and Tom Gorgone with 111 votes.
For the two Board of Education positions, David Pierson and Susan Markle-Bodkins won with 1,024 and 936 votes, respectively. Lolita Nutter followed with 917 votes.
The canvass was held on June 15.
