The Clay County Commission met for the last time of 2016 on December 28.
Before the meeting proceeded with action items, the county commission approved a resolution designating Dec. 28, 2016, as Clay County Middle School Day in honor of the volleyball team. The volleyball team went 18-0 for a perfect season. Congratulations to the volleyball team and to CCMS!
In other business, a motion to approve previous meeting minutes and approve the bills and purchase orders as presented were approved.
An erroneous assessment for James L. McGlothlin was approved. A request of waiver of final settlement for the estate of pebble Gay Adkins, deceased, was approved. A motion to confirm probating the last will and testament of Daniel Lee Hundley and the appointment of Susan Ruth Hundley, executrix, was approved. A motion to confirm probating the last will and testament of Eugene N. Bragg and the appointment of Mary L Miller, executrix, was approved. A motion to confirm probating the last will and testament of Larry Crawford Truman Sr. and the appointment of Tracy Truman, executrix, was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Darrell V. Pritt II, administrator of the estate of Nancy G. Pritt, deceased, was approved. The appointment of Jimmy D. Backus, Administrator of the estate of Susan A. Backus, deceased, was approved.
The resignation of Glenna Rose, effective December 15, 2016, was approved. The resignation of Pamila Runion, effective December 12, 2016, was approved. A list of employees for the sheriff’s department and their rate of pay, effective January 1, 2017, as submitted by Donald J. Triplett, sheriff-elect, was approved.
A motion to approve an increase in pay for Ezra Heath Cliver, due to passing his EMT-B test, was approved. Ezra’s rate of pay will be $9.75 per hour effective January 1, 2017. A motion to allow the West Virginia State Tax Department to make corrections to the 2017 mineral assessments thru February 13, 2017, was approved.
The county commission then moved to continue to January 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. to organize for 2017.
