The Clay County Commission is partnering with the Clay County Family Resource Network, the Clay County Board of Education, the clay detachment of the state road, and the WV DEP for the annual WV Make It Shine Project.
Every year the WV Make It Shine Project is held during the first two weeks of April. Counties sometimes adopt highways or do an annual clean up. This year we plan to clean up the trash in three locations along Route 4, as you go up Maysel Hill.
We need volunteers to help make our county look a little cleaner. If you would like to help, be at the Clay County High School parking lot at 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 3. The Clay County Board of Education will bus us to the clean-up area. The Clay Detachment of the WV State Road will direct traffic, to make the work site safe. And finally, the WV DEP is furnishing a large trailer to haul the garbage and debris to the Kanawha County landfill. Come out and help make our county shine. In case of rain, the alternate clean-up date will be the following day, April 4, at the same time.
We recommend that you wear a long sleeve shirt and pants. You should wear shoes and boots that have a firm sole and cover your entire feet. Garbage bags and gloves will be furnished. If you have questions, please call Jerry Linkinoggor at 304-587-4259 or 304-548-5786.
