CMI2 is making significant strides toward opening its new Adaptive Experimentation Facility (AEF) in Lizemores. Early Monday morning, the AEF staff signed the final steel beam before it was hoisted into place. The original building along Route 16 will soon house the AEF Base Camp for equipment, offices, and vehicles. Since CMI2 purchased the property in early March, the staff has worked to remove the interior walls, reinforce the exterior walls, replaced the roof on the main building, and added sewer and power for recreational vehicles/campers.
“Raising the top beam for the AEF Base Camp facility in just two months is a testament to our team’s unwavering dedication to this project in Lizemores as we build a premier training and experimentation destination,” said Walter Hatfield, Vice President of Training and Experimentation. “Moving the facility as we stand up a new location is a significant task, but our team is incredible.”
In conjunction with the activities in Lizemores, the AEF staff is working to decommission the existing temporary location in the Fola-Bickmore area by July 2024.
