It was smack down time at CCMS as the Webster County Highlanders came to the Mustangs’ home turf wanting to clean house. From the beginning, it looked as though the Highlanders would run the courts and walk off winners running up a 12-7 lead in the 1st period. The Mustangs, however, had their own plans. They came out firing, kicked the game into turbo in the 2nd period and went on a 17 point spree. They got back in the game with some great defense on the perimeter and in the paint. It was scopes on, and at the end of the first half the score stood at 23-20 Mustangs. After pep talks at the half, both teams come out gunning but were missing their marks with the Highlanders keeping a spitting distance from taking the lead. The 4th quarter was just about the same way – full of action and the lead went back and forth. In the end, it was the Mustangs over the Highlanders by two points. The final score was Mustangs 41, Highlanders 39. The boys of CCMS will be back in action soon as the CWVAC tournament plays out February 17-21.
It was also Homecoming night for the Mustangs, the time to crown the CCMS 2025 Basketball Homecoming Queen. All the princesses and their escorts lined up and were introduced to the cheering fans. Then it was time for the coronation of the queen. Vanessa Cleavenger, along with escort Jackson Stricker, strode in to the cheers of family and friends to be crowned 2025 Basketball Homecoming Queen by Principal Leslie Goe. She gracefully accepted her crown and will no doubt be a queen that represents the school well. Sixth grade princess was Denae Stricker with escort was Teagan Boggs. Seventh grade princess was Aubree Keenan with escort Gunner Dobbins. Eighth grade princess was Kennedy Adkins with escort Canaan Payton. Congratulations to Queen Cleavenger and her court.
