On March 30-April 1, the Clay County Middle School and Clay County High School Technology Students Association (TSA) teams traveled to Cedar Lakes for state competition.
Led by their advisors Leslie Goe and Jessica Ramsey, 42 middle school students and 31 high school students boarded two yellow school buses and headed toward victory. The competitions are all strategy and no goofing off, and Clay County meant business.
Each of the students worked many hours perfecting their projects. Their hard work and dedication paid off. Clay County Middle captured 14 first place, 13 second place, and 15 third place victories. Clay County High School captured 12 first place, nine second place, and three third places. Twenty-five middle school students and 21 high school students earned the honor of attending the national TSA competition in Orlando, FL, on June 21-25. Our outstanding Mustangs and Panthers made use very proud! Winners were as follows:

For the fifth year in a row, Clay County Middle School also received the honor of being named Outstanding Middle School Chapter in the state of West Virginia. For the second year in a row, Clay County High School received the Outstanding High School Chapter in the state of West Virginia.
The award is determined by the total number of awards taken away from the conference. Our own Ms. Ramsey was honored as WV TSA Advisor of the year. Mrs. Goe and Ms. Ramsey are very proud of these students for not only bringing home victory, but for their success in their behavior too. These students are carrying on a strong tradition set by TSA students over the past decade. Mrs. Goe and Ms. Ramseywould also like to thank Kim Carroll, Allen Goe, Bob Morris, Mary Ramsey, Larry Ramsey, and Cathy Craddock for their time and hard work helping students with projects and serving as chaperones. This success would not be possible without the support of the administrations at Clay County Middle School, Clay County High School, and the Clay County Board of Education. We thank you!
If you see any of these outstanding students, congratulate them and wish them luck at the national conference!
