The Clay County Quilt Group has been meeting for over five years. It’s a great time of fellowship as quilters, both beginners and experienced, gather together in a laid back atmosphere of learning and sharing of techniques and tips.
The group is currently working on two different projects. The first project is a crib quilt, where the group works together to create a simple block quilt from beginning to end. Quilters learn how to cut strips into blocks using the rotary cutter and cutting mat, as well as practice on sewing an accurate quarter inch seam allowance.
The second project is for more advanced quilters as they learn how to make the Hunter’s Star quilt using the Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star cutting template and directions.
Each quilter will make their own individual quilt from material they bring to the class. It’s so much fun to see the different materials people choose for the project and watch it come together into a finished quilt top. Each one different, reflecting the quilter’s own personal taste, yet each one beautiful.
The Quilt Group meets the first and third Saturday of every month at the BDA office (old state road garage), in Two Run, from 10 a.m. till noon. Cost is $2 per meeting. If you have an interest in quilting, you are invited to join them. For further questions, contact Kay Battles at 304-587-2597.
