The Clay County Youth wrestling team traveled to Parkersburg to compete in the West Virginia Junior Wrestling Championships. There were five young boys who completed, each one doing an amazing job representing Clay County.
Those wrestlers were 12u 90 pounds-Eli Metheney, 10u 60pounds- Erick Hamrick, 10u 110 pounds- Pierce Adkins, 8u HWT- Levi Hamrick, an d8u 100 pounds- Palmer Adkins.
Palmer Adkins was able to take home 4th place and Pierce brought home the championship title. Every boy competing showed amazing sportsmanship, respect for the sport and those around them.
Wrestling is a tough sport, you win, or you learn, and while many lessons were learned there were successes as well. It was a tough season and Jada and James Adkins say they are always proud to be a part of this group of young wrestlers and to travel and watch them grow.
