Clay County Commission hears service updates, accepts bid on old CAEZ building

Clay County Commission met on April 25, 2018 for a regular session. Andrew Parker was in attendance to speak to the commission about the internet services, and which services would benefit the courthouse best.

Currently, the plan costs around $529, and he offered a new contract with Frontier which could be a savings of around $300 per month. The commission will discuss the issue and make a decision at a later date.

A motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting was then passed to proceed with the meeting. A motion to approve the bills and purchase orders as presented was approved. A motion to approve erroneous assessments as presented by the Assessor for Sammy G. Ramsey, Ira & Brenda McKritrick, James & Crisha Deyton, Adam Cantrell and Kathryn E. King was approved. A motion to approve budget revisions was approved. A motion to approve a request of waiver of final settlement for the estates of Lowell Thomas Price, Mary Virginia Fletcher, Maynard Leo Lane and Betty Jean Harmon, deceased, was approved.

A motion to confirm probating the Last Will & Testament of Juanita Jo Martin, deceased, and the appointment of Thomas Gene Martin, Executor, was approved. A motion to request a status report for the estate of William Glen Francis, deceased, from Wayne King, Fiduciary Commissioner, was approved. A motion to appoint Wayne King as Fiduciary Commissioner for the estate of Fred Allen Workman, deceased, was approved.   A motion to approve an “ACH Origination Agreement” between Clay County Commission and Clay County Bank was approved.

A motion to accept sealed bids for sale of Pt. Lot 18 & Easement, known as Tract 1 (the old CAEZ building, located on Main Street) was approved.  One bid came in from Wilson Shamblin Smith Funeral Home for the amount of $35.005, which was then accepted, and Wilson Shamblin Smith Funeral Home purchased Pt. Lot 18 & Easement, known as Tract 1 for the amount of $35,005.
