City Council hears Blue Knob update, promotes Jason Adkins to Class 1 Chief Operator

Minutes from regular Clay County City Council meeting on September 4, 2018, are as follows:

Josh Shamblin made the motion to approve the minutes, Jerry Stover second, none opposed. Jerry Stover made the motion to approve the bills, Denise Holcomb second, none opposed. Josh Shamblin made the motion for a Blue Knob drawdown, Denise Holcomb second, none opposed.

*E.L. Robinson $14,131.50.

*Mike Enyart & Sons $101,473.69. Blue Knob update- 3739’ of the 8 inch line has been installed, 1175’ of the 6 inch line has been installed, 500’ of the 2 inch, couple fire hydrants and blow offs, and 75’ of service line. Should have extra crew next  week. Mid Atlantic started preparing tank site, Booster station has been ordered. Town may have to pay for tree work at booster station site done by Black Diamond power the get reimbursed from regional council Eric Coberly is looking into that.

Josh Shamblin made the motion for a Maysel tank drawdown, Jerry Stover second, none opposed.

*Money left from tank project might be used for upgrade in the distribution system.

Denise Holcomb made a motion to run ads in newspapers for replacing Maysel steel tanks, Jerry Stover second, none opposed.

Josh Shamblin made a motion for Amy Legg to work part-time, Jerry Stover second, none opposed. Josh Shamblin made a motion to give Robert Farrar a leak adjustment, Denise Holcomb second, none opposed. Josh Shamblin made a motion for the hiring of a lawyer for streetscape easements/right-of-ways, Denise Holcomb second, none opposed.

*Town will continue to use Mike Asbury Jerry Stover made the motion to go into executive session at 6:25,Denise Holcomb second, none opposed.

Denise Holcomb made a motion to come out of executive session at 7:04, Jerry Stover second, none opposed.

Jerry Stover made the motion approve the promotion of Jason Adkins to Class 1 Chief Operator and also pay raise to $11 a hour, Josh Shamblin second, none opposed.

Minutes from special town meeting held September 25, 2018, are as follows:

Joyce Gibson made a motion to approve a drawdown for Maysel storage tanks, Denise Holcomb second, none opposed.

*W.Q Watters $4,777.34.

*Liquid engineering (Tank inspections and cleaning) $3,185.00.

* Vandall’s (tree removal at storage tanks) $7,700.

*Xspec (emergency generators for storage tanks) $65,800.
