In an effort to honor our past members, who are no longer with us, the Braxton/Clay Extension Master Gardeners have made memorial donations in the former member’s respective county. The donations were not only to memorialize our members, but also to promote education in agriculture.
Accepting the Clay County donations were Kelsey Flinn-McFarland, Clay County FFA Advisor; her son, Becket; Chris Summerfield, President Clay FFA and Abigail Gill Vice President Clay FFA. Making the monetary donation was Michael Shamblin, Clay County Extension Agent and Suzie Legg, Treasurer Braxton/Clay Master Gardeners.

The Clay County donations were for Karen Hutchens who was the Master Gardener of the Year in 2006 and Robert Osborne who was not only a Master Gardeners but was also a former member of Clay FFA.
President of the Braxton/Clay Master Gardeners, Christi Boggs, presented a memorial donation to Ellen Collins, Braxton FFA President. The donation was in memory of Jeffrey Wright, an active Master Gardener from 2006-07.
A fourth memorial donation was made to the Judy Beane Memorial Scholarship through the Glenville State College Foundation. Judy was an active Master Gardener from 2012-15.
