The Clay County Board of Education meeting was held Monday, March 11, at 6 p.m. at the Administrative Office in Clay. Members present were Dave Mullins, President; David Pierson, Vice-President; Morgan Triplett; Cheryl White; and Susan Bodkins.
After approving the agenda, previous meeting minutes, and the bills, a financial update was made by Jennifer Paxton, Business Manager/Treasurer.
A motion was made to approve the employment of Caitlyn Rogers as TIR (Teacher in Residence) from March 19, 2019 – May 9, 2019 as Kindergarten teacher at H.E. White Elementary School and substitute teacher upon completion of the TIR Contract. This action is in agreement with Glenville State College and the Clay County Board of Education. Approval through Glenville State College was granted February 20, 2019. The motion passed.
A motion was made to approve the employment of Brian Collins as Assistant Baseball Coach at Clay County Middle School, and the motion passed. A motion to approve the revised policy: JBB PK Policy (Entrance Age and Conditions) for Clay County Schools passed.
A motion to approve the revised Clay County School Bus Operator bylaws passed. A motion to approve the out of county/overnight trip for the Clay County High School TSA students and chaperones to attend the TSA State Leadership Conference at Cedar Lakes in Ripley – March 27, 2019 – March 30, 2019 passed.
A motion to approve the employment of Courtney Workman as Assistant Softball Coach at Clay County High School passed. A motion to approve the resignation/retirement of Pamela Douglas as Teacher Aide at Big Otter Elementary School, effective at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, passed. A motion to approve the resignation/retirement of Clara Deyton as Custodian at Clay Elementary School, effective at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, passed. A motion to approve Chapman Technical Group to provide Architectural/Engineering Services for renovations at Clay County High School. (Funded by the West Virginia School Building Authority), passed.
The Board of Education will meet Monday, March 25, at 6 p.m. at Clay County Middle School.
