The WV Natural Resources Police will hold a Boater’s Education Course at the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department, in the “Old Fisher’s Auto Parts Building,” in Sutton. The class will be held on June 26 and 27 from 6-9:30 p.m. each evening. Students must attend all hours, both days.
This is a seven-hour course and students must attend all sessions to be certified. In 1998, West Virginia passed legislation that requires any person born after December 31, 1986, to successfully complete an approved Boating Education Course before operating a motorboat or PWC in the State of West Virginia.
Although this course is scheduled for the Braxton and Clay County areas, it is open to anyone wishing to take the course, and is free of charge. Any age individual may attend, however only students at least 11 years of age that have passed the test will receive a certificate of completion. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
Class size is limited so pre-registration is required. To attend the class, register at www.register-ed.com. To register by phone, or if you need additional information, contact Sgt. Tim White or Misty at the WV DNR District 3 office at 304-924-6211, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
