As you drive down the winding roads of Bomont, you wouldn’t expect to find such a treasure hidden in the hills. As you top the hill at Shelton Road, your eyes are meet with a breathtaking view. This historical two story 1896 farm house tucked away from the crazy hustle and bustle of everyday life is the perfect getaway.
“When I was five years old I walked into this house and was in awe, I always said I would own this home.” Tammy Taylor, current owner, recalls her first memories of this home. When Tammy and husband Steven were in their twenties this very home came up for sale for $20,000, but sadly they couldn’t afford it, so they had to pass it up. The Reckmers from New Jersey purchased it and their son Brian moved in. It wasn’t long before Brian and Steven became best friends and were together nearly every day. On a visit back home in New Jersey Brian was killed.
When the Reckmers put this home back up for sale it was only fitting to offer it to who was like Brian’s family here in West Virginia. The Taylor’s have worked every day since January 2, 2017 to restore this home and make it what it is today. “We decided to restore what we could and rebuild what we couldn’t in Brian’s honor,” Tammy said.
