After a meeting to discuss the future of West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, WV, the West Virginia University Board of Governors decided to move its Tech campus to the old Mountain State University campus in Beckley, WV. WVU bought the former Mountain State University Campus back in June for $8 million dollars. The move will affect many students and staff members. The Beckley campus is approximately 40 miles away from the Montgomery campus. The buildings on the Montgomery campus are roughly 50 years old and need about $100 million dollars in maintenance. The Beckley campus is hoped to serve the students of WVU Tech with more accommodations and will be able to hold roughly 3,000 students. At this time, Bridge Valley will remain in Montgomery.
