Sunday May 28, was a cloudy, overcast day, but the spirits of the Roy and Vina Sears Bee family were high.
They were once again coming home to the Bee Family Farm on Hallburg Road. Every year since 1948, this has been a family tradition. As much as possible the family makes an effort to attend this gathering. New memories are made and it is a time for the younger generations to gleam information about the past family memories from the older generations.
There was plenty of food, fellowship and singing of hymns. Our Grandfather was a wonderful bass singer and lead the singing at the Hallburg Baptist for many years. He stressed pitch and harmony and all his children were taught to sing. There were nine children, Ralph, Ruby, Ronzel, Pebble, Carl, Anna Jean, Roscoe, Glen and William. Those remaining are Anna Jean, Roscoe and William.
The oldest direct descendant of Roy and Vina Bee attending was Anna Jean Bee Mollohan, of Charleston, their youngest daughter. The youngest attending was Dakota Alford of Bluefield, great-grandson of Ralph Edward Bee and grandson of Robert Bee, both of which are deceased.
Others in attendance were Carla Bee Amsdell and daughter Lyndsey McGead-Bee of Ashtabula, OH, descendants of Glen and Pauline Bee; Gary, Louise, Kelly Rae and Garrett Maynor of Whitesville; Emalea and Aiden McKinner of Whitesville, descendants of Nelson and Pebble Lola Bee Mollohan; Wanda June Mollohan Myers of Fayetteville, NC; Breman, Teena Marie Mollohan, and Angie Pritt of Sebring, FL; Eddie, Cheryl and Mereena Pritt, of Anderson, IN; Dane and Shelby Pritt Rowes of Indianapolis, descendants of Harold and Ruby Roxie Lynn Mollohan; Aaron and Linda Mollohan of Clyde and Anna Jean Bee Mollohan Backalew of Charleston, descendants of Clyde and Anna jean Bee Mollohan; Roscoe Bee of Frametown; Howard, Sheila Bee, Alvin, Jacob and Luke Shinn of Pinch; James, Neodshea Bee, Micah and Dakota Alford of Bluefield, WV, descendants of Jane Sears; friends Lantie, Betty and Don Mollohan and Cindy Swiger all of Maidson, OH, and Bob Jackson of Clendenin.
William Lloyd “Dutch” Bee could not attend for health reasons. He was greatly missed by all.
Each year as we watch family and friends depart we can’t help but wonder who will not be back the next year. God has blessed our family and we are grateful people.
