On October 15, Clay County will participate in the Shakeout Earthquake Drill. Last year Clay County had more participation than any other state, and they are hoping to do that again this year.
People are often injured during earthquakes when they try to move or stand. If you need to get away from heavy items on shelves in a store, drop low to the ground and crawl only for a short distance. These are some of the facts you will learn in the Great Shakeout class: how to be aware of your surroundings and what to do if an earthquake would occur.
This class is not just for pedestrians, but business owners as well. You can register your organization and the number of people participating, and they encourage employees to participate. This will help educate everyone involved and come up with a plan that fits your organization’s needs.
You can reach out to Aiden Taylor or Elizabeth Gallaher to get any of your questions answered or address any concerns. Send an email to shakeout@claycountycert.org.
