The Leo Club is a youth organization of Lions Clubs International.
“LEO” stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity, Leo clubs encourage youths to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities. They are dependent on a Lion’s club to sponsor and initiate a Leo club.
Clay County Lions Club has recently started its sponsorship of a Leo club in Clay County High School. As the youngest members of Lions Club International, Leos embody the best qualities of this incredible organization. These young people are devoted individuals who realize the power in action. Lions club and Leo members, together, form a powerful partnership of community involvement.
The Leo Club was formed in Pennsylvania in 1957 and now, over 50 years later, has grown into a dynamic force for good. Leo’s have actively provided their communities and the world with kindness and service. This year’s officers are, Emma Drake, President; Ashlee Butcher, Vice President; and Kali Frame, Secretary.
Emma Drake says, “This club is so important because it teaches you how to become an active volunteer in your community.” Clay County Leo club members can be seen at many community events donating their time. The high school’s Halloween block party and trunk or treat event are just a few activities they have participated in this school year, with many more in the making.
The Leo club had an induction meeting at the Lion’s Club where the President, Vice President, and Secretary were officially sworn in to their positions. This is just the start for this club and the good that Leos can offer is endless. The success of Leo clubs is a crucial part of the success of Lions Club International. Leos are the ones who will carry out the future of the Lions Club and improve upon it.
