Majority Leader John Unger (D-Berkeley) issued the following statement regarding the passage of Senate Bill 373:
“As the one who initiated SB 373 by helping to draft, sponsor and spearheading this bill through the process, I want to dedicate it to the people of West Virginia. President John F. Kennedy once said, ‘Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.’ Although the passage of SB 373 is bringing claims for its success by many politicians, the power in its passage came from, was demonstrated by and worked for by the people of West Virginia. If it weren’t for the people of this great state demanding their water be protected, this bill would never have passed. I want to thank the people of West Virginia for giving me a renewed hope in our democracy.”
