Heavy storms passed through the area late Thursday night and early Friday morning, bringing with them strong wind gusts. The storms also included heavy rain which quickly ran off of the already saturated ground. Wet conditions and strong winds paired together to cause trees and debris to enter roadways and fall across power lines. Several reports of trees and rockslides causing hazardous driving conditions were reported across the county. Power lines were downed Friday morning causing residents in the Ivydale and Clay areas to be without electricity for several hours. Clay County schools dismissed at 10:15 am Friday due to the power outages. A wind advisory was in place until 4:00 Friday as the breezy conditions continued late into the evening. Thankfully warmer and calmer weather returned for the weekend.
