The CCHS Panthers football team got back to normal this past weekend after scrimmaging the Dots from Poca High School. The Dots are coached by Panther alumnus Seth Ramsey. Coach Ramsey was quick to help his alma mater as he and the Dots were the first school to supply the Panthers with much needed material. The Panthers coaching staff presented Coach Ramsey with a signed jersey at midfield before the game to show appreciation. The teams then squared off in the first scrimmage of the season.
Despite the heat, the scrimmage proved to be a successful opening to the season. The Panthers were able to prove themselves eager for the season as many good things were on display. The defense was swarming to the ball and the offense was able to move the ball. The team will travel to Hico on Saturday, August 20th to compete in the Midland Trail Grid-o-Rama. CCHS will play Wyoming East at 10:30. The JV team will scrimmage at Noon and then the varsity will come back out at 5:30 to play Midland Trail High School. The Panthers are excited to finally be back out on the field and are hoping to fine tune some things in preparation for the first game in two weeks. The regular season will get underway on Friday, August 26th as the Pirates from Fayetteville come to Bradley Field to take on our Panthers. Last season the Pirates won a close battle, but CCHS is looking for revenge this time around.
