Lady Mustangs miss out on championship

Lady Mustangs finish their routine.
Lady Mustangs finish their routine.

By Allen Hamrick

The CWVAC Cheerleading championship was held this past Saturday at Webster High School.  The Lady Mustang squad returned to the floor with their high flying routines and tumbling acts to try once again to capture the championship.
The Lady Mustangs have held the trophy for three years in a row, but it was not to be this season.  There were some really good routines this year, and it would boil down to who made the least amount of mistakes. Judges had a tough time as most of the squads were strong. The Lady Mustangs did a good job, but in the end it was the Lady Knights of Braxton County who took home the championship with the Lady Bears of Summersville coming in a close second. The Lady Tigers, with their four member squad, took the third place trophy home to Walton.
The Lady Mustangs were pretty disappointed, but on a high note, Jaedyn Walker and Lexi Truman were awarded the All Conference Football Cheerleaders while Anna Jackson and Abby Elswick  grabbed the All-Tournament CWVAC cheer competition awards.
Congratulations to these Lady Mustangs on their accomplishments.
