Governor Jim Justice announced Monday that he has selected John Dunlap to serve as the state’s chief technology officer.

Dunlap currently serves as the director of networking engineering and architecture for the West Virginia Office of Technology. With 32 years of experience in state government, he has overseen many statewide initiatives involving infrastructure, broadband, and network technologies.

As chief technology officer, Dunlap will direct more than 200 employees of the West Virginia Office of Technology and will work directly with management, information technology teams and external partners in overseeing the state’s information technology efforts.

“John Dunlap has the experience to upgrade West Virginia’s technology infrastructure,” said Justice. “John will find ways to make our state more efficient and save the tax payers money through the use of technology. Any good business needs to stay on the leading edge of technology, and I want the same for our state.”
