The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Section will sponsor a hunter education course. The course will be held at H.E. White Elementary School on Sept. 24, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 1-7 p.m.
This is a mandatory training for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1975 prior to purchasing a base hunting license for West Virginia. Students must bring the last four digits of their social security number.
The hunter education course is a minimum of 10 hours of instruction with hands-on gun exercises with inoperable firearms and dummy ammo, followed by a final written exam.

Students must have reached their 10th birthday by final exam day to be eligible for a permanent card. This course is recognized in all states and Canadian provinces as well as Mexico.
These classes are offered free and all of the materials are provided. Preregistration is required. Call Misty at 304-924-6211 to register Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
