GFWC WV Capitol District to hold 100th Annual Convention

The General Federation Woman’s Clubs or GFWC WV Capitol District compromised of 18 General Federation Woman’s Clubs from Kanawha, Putnam, Boone and Fayette Counties will hold their 100th Annual Convention October 5th at the Church of Christ, Elkview, WV. GFWC WV Elk Valley Woman’s Club and GFWC WV Clay County Woman’s Club will co-host the annual event. Each club district can enter their 1st place winners in the craft show. Winner of the district competition can be entered in the state competition at the Greenbrier. Capitol District President Lucille Chandler’s emblem is a lighthouse, theme Rays of Hope. Carol Allen, President’s theme is Brighten the Way for Others. The state project is Camp Kno Koma. The district project is WVU Children’s Hospital. President Chandler combined the two themes. Brighten the way for others with rays of hope. Asking the members to bring bears for traumatized children in the Sherriff’s project. Bring cereal for Manna Meals, who feed the homeless.
We will elect new Club Officers, have a memorial, entertainment and Keynote Speaker GFWC WV President, Carol Allen. Intro for Club President’s who will report on their successful projects. Introduce a new club, Ladies of St. Albans GFWC, Melinda Ilar, President. Ladies interested in joining a club, call Capitol District President Lucille Chandler at 304-548-6923
Clubs of the District: GFWC WV Fayetteville Woman’s Club, GFWC WV Belle Woman’s Club , Madison, Capitol, Marmet, Charleston, Montgomery, Chesapeake, Mt. Hope Federated League, Clay County, Woman’s Club Nitro, Clendenin, South Charleston, Cross Lanes, Ladies of St. Albans Woman’s Club, Dunbar and Elk Valley.
