The Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited (ENCTU) announced new officers and three new members of the board of directors who began their term in October. The new officers and the board lead the organization, with projects including stream cleanups, fingerling trout stockings, stream monitoring and analysis, as well as meetings and classes that teach members about rod building, fly tying and fly casting.
Mike Sayre will serve as president of the organization, succeeding Steve Young. Ian McQuinn will serve as vice president of membership; Glenn Nelson will serve as vice president of environmental; Bo Moody will serve as treasurer; and Rhonda Mullins will serve as secretary. The position of vice president of programs will be filled at a later date.
“I’m excited to serve as President of the Ernie Nester Chapter. This year, working with the Trout Unlimited (TU) national staff in Davis, West Virginia, we will develop more conservation oriented projects and outings that are representative of the TU mission of cold, clean, fishable waters. We will continue stocking fingerling trout in cooperation with WV DNR, educating children through Trout in the Classroom, and Project Healing Waters veterans’ outreach. I also want to thank Steve Young for his tremendous leadership as our previous president,” said Sayre.
Additionally, three members were named to the ENCTU Board of Directors, including Jimmy Easter, Randy Lemon, and Roman Stauffer.
“The Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited has worked for decades to improve the fisheries of West Virginia. It’s amazing the amount of hard work that this organization does on an annual basis. It’s a privileged to serve on the board and help continue the great work of the organization,” said Stauffer.
The next meeting of the Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be on Tuesday, November 8, at 7p.m. at Cabela’s in South Charleston. The meeting is open to everyone.
