In order for registration to run smoothly, we are asking parents to call Teresa Drake (304-286-3115) or Sharon Mullins (304-587-1169) to schedule an appointment to register their child for Pre-K or Kindergarten. Who can attend our Pre-K Program for 4-year olds? Any child who is four prior to September first of the year he/she is to be enrolled is eligible to attend.
What does Universal Pre-K mean? Universal means a child who is four prior to September first of the year he/she is to be enrolled is eligible to attend our program.
Why do I need to attend registration? Registration gives the parents / guardian an opportunity to visit the school and meet the Pre-K Team. In addition, your child will be participating in various screenings, such as, developmental screening (DIAL – 4), speech, hearing, vision, etc. Teachers will be available to talk with you about these screenings, thus, getting a better understanding of how we can serve you and your child.

We encourage parents of 3 year olds to call Teresa Drake (304-286-3115) or Sharon Mullins (304-587-1169) to get information concerning eligibility for this program. This program operates under guidelines, such as, level of income, Birth to Three enrollment, etc.
Who can attend Kindergarten? Any child who is five prior to September first of the year he/she is to be enrolled is eligible to attend. In order to attend first grade, a child must complete a successful year of Kindergarten.
What documentation do I need to bring to registration? We will need a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate. A certified birth certificate is one that is obtained from the state registrar or vital statistics office in the state where the child was born. Also, at this event your child will participate in screenings, such as, developmental screenings (DIAL-4), speech/language, hearing, and vision. These screenings ensure that every child receives the best possible chance to be healthy and ready to learn. If your child is Head Start eligible, please bring proof of income to registration.
Clay County Schools will be scheduling Pre-K and Kindergarten registrations at each of our elementary school.
