On Thursday, January 28, 2016 the Board hosted their rescheduled meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Administrative Office. First on the agenda, the approval of the Legal Services in the event that the Clay County Board of Education or its agents require advice or representation from Bowles Rice, LLP, Attorney at Law.
Teresa Taylor is retiring as a teacher aide from Big Otter Elementary at the end of this 2015-2016 school years.
The employment of Carlee Hopkins Scott was approved. Carlee Hopkins has the title of “Teacher in Residence”, which means that she has completed a teaching degree but has not completed student teaching. She will be filling the position of Mathematics 9-12, pending completion of the Teacher in Residence Program in May 2016, which will go in effect immediately. Carlee was also a Valedictorian at Clay County High School. Carlee will be paid 75% of a teacher’s salary and Glenville State College will receive the remaining 25% to assist with the program.
The Board had a lengthy discussion about snow days and how to decide which days were going to be considered instructional days. Clay County schools have 3 snow days before spring break, once they hit the 4th day schools will be required to make that day up.
The Clay Board of Education will meet with Clay Elementary LSIC at Clay Elementary School on February 8, 2016.
