Clay County Board of Education ended the month of November with an agenda of approval of hiring new staff and volunteer coaches. The Board met at the Administrative Office on November 30th at 6:00 p.m. Tami Dobbins-Wolfe will now be resigning from H.E. White Elementary School on December 2, 2015 and will be employed by the Braxton County BOE. The resignation of Steve Ware (head football coach at CHS) and Lisa Legg (substitute custodian) were approved. Barry Payton, a Special Education teacher at CHS, rescinded his resignation which was approved by the board. Barry and Rick Willis were also approved to be a volunteer coaches for the boy’s basketball team at Clay Middle School, Aaron Williams will now be a volunteer coach for the boys’ basketball team at Clay County High School. Stephanie Brown is now employed by the state to be a substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school years. Kyle Ware is now certified and will be an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Clay Middle School for the 2015-2016 school years.
The Board also discussed Annual Update to the Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan for the 2015-2016 school years. This plan summarizes a 10 year plan for major revisions or updates. The plan allows the Board to complete projects, but they can’t spend the Board Authority money from the state if it isn’t written in their plan. Wesley Bird is transferring from Nicholas County Schools to Clay County Schools for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school years. Melinda Isaacs, board member, will be travelling out-of-state with the NCA/ NIAAA for the Accreditation visit on December 12-16 in Orlando, FL. All expenses are being covered through NCA.
