The Clay County Board of Education held their bi-monthly meeting at Clay Elementary on Monday, February 8, 2016.
The regular items were listed on the agenda, which included: to approve the agenda, approve the minutes from the previous meeting, approve the payment of current bills, and the financial update presented by Kevin Isaacs, Business Manager and Treasurer.
The meeting progressed with the approval of the transfer/reassignment of Lora Brown from 4th grade at Clay Elementary School to 2nd grade at Clay Elementary School, effective for the 2016-2017 school year. Angela Walker and Lindsay J. Dunlap were approved as substitute teachers. The approval for employment of an Autism Mentor Aide position at Clay Elementary School, new position, was passed and the aide will be Tara Grose. Lynn Brogan was approved for transfer at Lizemore Elementary School from 4th grade to 1st grade, effective for the 2016-2017 school year, Donna Abel’s former position. Dana Remias was approved for transfer from Math teacher at Clay County High School to Math teacher at Clay County Middle School, effective for the 2016-2017 school year, Autumn Walker’s former position. Jimmie Holcomb was approved for transfer from bus #58 to bus #63, effective for the 2016-2017 school year, Mike Evans’ former position. Edna King was approved for transfer from aide at Clay Elementary to kindergarten aide at Big Otter Elementary, effective for the 2016-2017 school year, Teresa Taylor’s former position. Lisa Craddock was approved for employment as Parents as Teachers Parent Educator, new position. Alexandreia Ferrebee was approved for employment as a substitute custodian. Elizabeth Taylor’s resignation was approved, effective March 31, 2016. Patty Fugate’s resignation as a substitute cook was approved, effective February 2, 2016. A request for $377.00 for Clay Elementary students participating in the All-State Children’s Choir (WVASCC) on March 11-12, 2016 in Charleston, WV was approved. The board members discussed advertising for a substitute secretary and cook. The next board of education meeting will be on Monday, February 22, 2016 at H.E. White Elementary School.
