With spring come many activities in the community and in the schools. All students and staff are looking forward to summer break, but before that high school students are looking forward to prom and then of course graduation for the seniors. This year at CCHS, there is an organization called Cinderella’s Closet. Cinderella’s Closet is run by CCHS Faculty members Katelyn Thomas and Amber Bass with the assistance of other co-workers such as Valerie Facemire. Cinderella’s Closet was organized so that girls needing prom dresses, shoes and accessories can go and
pick out a dress and use it for prom. People have donated many dresses or found them on deep discounts at stores and purchased them and some have even come from yard sales, etc.
The day of prom, Ms. Thomas
and Ms. Bass along with a few other volunteers will be at the school and are having a little get together with the girls to do hair and make-up and nails. Plans are to have finger foods and make it a fun ‘girls day’ experience for these girls. Life needs to go back to the simple times where you get together with your friends and have fun and enjoy each other’s company and Ms. Thomas and Ms. Bass are setting that as one of their goals for this organization.
Dresses range from size 0 to 20+, so there is a good variety in the 95 dresses Cinderella’s Closet currently has. In the future, hopefully as soon as next year, they also plan on having the same kind of organization for the boys as well, where they can come and borrow a tux or suit and shoes. If you would like to donate any type of prom/pageant dresses, shoes and accessories, you can do so by contacting Ms. Thomas or Ms. Bass at Clay County High School or you can just stop by and drop your donation off in the main office.
