Business authority announces businesses of the month

Each month, the Clay County Business Development Authority board  chooses a business of the month. In order to gain this recognition, a business must meet certain criteria. Examples of this include how much financial impact the business has on the county, how the business helps the county and its citizens, and the jobs it provides.
The following local businesses have been chosen for the past three months:
September: Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home
We have seen many changes to our beloved funeral home over the past 80 years. What has not changed is the dedication the funeral home staff  has for their county and beyond.
These days, B.J. Smith and his staff are completely focused on meeting the needs of the community during the sensitive time of bereavement. They offer grief support and prearrangement along with all other funerary services.

October: Ramsey’s Dairy Bar
Who would have imagined the scent of burgers, hot dogs, and scrumptious deep-fried goodness filling the air in the small community of Bickmore?
Ramsey’s Dairy Bar, created and owned by Allen Ramsey, has brought added life to a stretch of Route 16 that was once dominated by coal trucks. Along with the restaurant, there is also a Laundromat in the same building and Ramsey’s Car Wash, located just a few yards from the main building. Their menu is full of delicious eats, including ice cream treats.
