On occasion, words simply are not adequate for expressing one’s gratitude. Such was the case recently when one patient noted her sincere appreciation for the care she received at Braxton County Memorial Hospital during what she described as a ‘life-threatening episode’….
On July 13th, Diana ‘Elaine’ Goodwin returned to BCMH for the purpose of expressing her gratitude for the ‘fantastic care’ she had received a few days earlier. Elaine had already written a note of appreciation, yet she went a step further by presenting the nurses on Med Surg with a beautiful handcrafted wreath. Licensed Practical Nurse, Eva Rhodes, had assisted with her care, and graciously accepted the gift on behalf of the nursing staff at BCMH. In addition to Eva, Elaine specifically noted the following individuals for the ‘wonderful, supportive and professional care’ she received during her stay at BCMH: Doctors – Brent Glover, David Leveaux, Christopher Martin & Mark Waddell; Nurses – Jane Boggs, Kara Hoover & April Knotts; Nurse Aide – Briana Silman; and Respiratory Therapists – Stephanie Arden & Kathy Brown.
Elaine is the Activities Director at the Gerald Freeman Campground in Sutton, and this was her second visit to Braxton County Memorial Hospital. She explained, “In addition to suffering with shingles and other health issues, I have COPD. When I arrived at the BCMH Emergency Department, I was in respiratory distress! They saved my life!” She added, “I have been in many hospitals, but your hospital and staff were excellent and didn’t even know me. Everyone was so supportive and always at my bedside when I needed them. I highly commend all your staff because everyone was so good to me and so very caring and professional in all they did. I received the best care I have ever experienced in my life. The doctors were very supportive and helpful in explaining my condition. I appreciate all of you!”
The staff of Braxton County Memorial Hospital take this opportunity to thank Diana ‘Elaine’ Goodwin for her kind words of gratitude and beautiful gift of appreciation.
