The WV Natural Resources Police will hold a Boater’s Education Course at the Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department in Ivydale, WV. The class will be held on May 20 from 1 to 8 p.m.  This is a 7-hour course and students must take and pass the written exam at the end of the course to receive their permanent certification.

In 1998, West Virginia passed legislation that requires any person born after December 31, 1986 to successfully complete an approved Boater’s Education Course before operating a motorboat or PWC in the State of West Virginia.  This course is open to the public and is free of charge. Any age individual may attend, however only students at least 11 years of age that have passed the test will receive a certificate of completion.  Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.

Class size is limited so pre-registration is required.  If you would like to attend the class go online to register at www.register-ed.com.

To register by phone, or if you need additional information, please contact Sgt. White or Misty at the WV DNR District 3 office at 304-924-6211, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  This will be the only course offered in Braxton and Clay Counties in 2018.
