The Board of Education meeting began with the action items on the agenda. After the approval of the agenda, previous meeting minutes and the payment of the current bills, the board approved the resignation/retirement of Pam Mullins as Curriculum Coach, effective June 30, 2016; the employment of Amber Bass and Sabrina Corwell as Auxiliary Instructors (Majorette and Flag Corp) at CCHS; the reassignment of Lora Brown from 2nd grade teacher at Clay Elementary to 4th grade teacher at Clay Elementary and the reassignment of Rachel Schoolcraft from 4th grade teacher at Clay Elementary to 1st grade teacher at Clay Elementary. The reassignment of Lindsay Dunlap from 1st grade at Clay Elementary to 2nd grade at Clay Elementary was also approved, as well as the employment of Pam Mullins and Donna Abel as substitute teachers for the 2016-2017 school year.
The members then discussed the situation at HE White Elementary and contrary to recent reports that have been floating around, HE White Elementary is planning on opening at the beginning of the school year same as the rest of the schools in Clay County. After some work and clean up that will happen during the remainder of the summer, authorities at HE White are excited for the new school year.
Several head coaches from college football teams and Senator Joe Manchin will be at CCHS on Wednesday at 12 to aid in flood relief efforts.
