Well! First it was Ida, and now it is COVID-19, and the cake and ice cream party for celebrating 31 years of Now & Then is still “on hold.” It has not been canceled.
However, on Saturday, Sept. 18, a delegation of ladies from the Historical Society- Marlene, Sandy, Janet, Betty, Quincy, and Jeanie- delivered to me a stack of thank-you and congratulation cards sent from Free Press readers and members of the Clay County Historical Society who receive the newsletter. Reading each card and accompanying note was, for me, a moving and heartwarming experience. I shared them with the others, because they play a big part in the production of each Now & Then. We met on the front porch of the house where I grew up and we had a wonderful visit.
To each of you who sent a card, thank you so much for the gesture, for the kind and encouraging words, and even if you only signed your name. Only distance and COVID restraints prevent a deserved hug.
Gratefully,
Eloise Boggs
