Clay County Resident, Jean Dorsey is the new Apple Belle for the 2015 Apple Festival! Born on April 13, 1939 at Glen Ferris, WV to Harry and Clara (Hypes) Walker. Jean is the middle child of four brothers and four sisters. Jean has four children, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She attended Independence of Lizemores School and then Lizemores School and she graduated from Clay High School in 1957. Jean said she was always shy during her school years.
Jean loves going to church and listening to gospel music. She enjoys cooking, canning, reading, and doing crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family. Mrs. Dorsey is always willing to do what she can to help others. She didn’t want to accept the honor of Belle because she would rather somebody else be it, but that’s just who this sweet lady is. She always wants others to have things before herself.
Jean has been fortunate to not have to work outside of her home. She loves the Lord and she loves her family. The Apple Bell ceremony will be on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:00pm and then the Apple Bell Reception will be at Clay Development at 12:30pm right after the ceremony. Jean is honored to be your 2015 Apple Belle. Congratulations Jean!
