The West Virginia State Police have announced the launching of their own smart phone application. Used to help fight crime, the app was designed to enhance communication between the public and the West Virginia State Police. The app allows users to access the West Virginia State Police Facebook and Twitter pages, the website, the Sex Offender Registry, and detachment information. WVSP can also send out blast messages in the event of an Amber or Silver Alert, alerting the public much more quickly than through conventional methods. The app can be downloaded for free at either the iStore or Google Play Store.
