A series of accidents in the Kanawha Valley ended with a rollover accident that claimed the life of a Clay County man. Police say Michael Lee McKinney, 46, caused three accidents in the Charleston area before heading northbound on I-79. Travelling at over 100 mph, McKinney weaved in and out of traffic, sideswiping several more cars. Near the Big Chimney exit of I-79 McKinney lost control of his car, causing the car to roll over several times before landing in the median. McKinney was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police are investigating the cause of McKinney’s accidents. No other drivers were harmed during the ordeal.
