Roadside dumps and litter are a huge problem in Clay County, and without your help it may get worse. The Clay County Solid Waste Authority is in charge of litter control and clean ups in the area, but a lack of funding has left them unable to do as much as they would like. Currently the budget is only allowing for one litter control effort and an electronics collection, but no spring cleanup. The annual spring cleanup normally allows citizens of the county to bring any type of trash (household, electronics, metal, etc.) for free disposal in an effort to minimize roadside dumping and trash pile up in the area.
Do you care about the appearance of our county? If so, here’s your chance to do something about it. The “What’s Next, Clay County?” group is challenging members of the community to donate to the Clay County Solid Waste Authority to help clean up the area. Mitch DeBoard, of DeBoard Enterprises, has already made a $100 donation and is encouraging other businesses to do the same. Help keep Clay County clean by sending donations to Clay Solid Waste Authority PO Box 35 Clay, WV 25043. By doing our part, we can ensure our community is clean and beautiful.
