Unemployment rates in Clay County are still on the rise. Although thirty of West Virginia’s 55 counties reported decreased unemployment rates in the month of July, Clay County’s rate climbed to 10%. Braxton, Nicholas, Gilmer, Ritchie, Doddridge and Harrison counties also reported higher unemployment rates, according to West Virginia WorkForce. West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.2% in July 2013.
