Clay County Commission met for their first meeting of February on Tuesday the 10th at 10:00am in the county commission room in the court house. With just two county commissioners in attendance, the meeting didn’t last long.
The meeting started with the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, the approval of the bills and purchase orders, and the approval of a budget revision for the offices of County Clerk and Sheriff-Law Enforcement. The request of waiver of final settlement for the estate of Irene May Cantrell, deceased was approved. David L. Tracy was approved as Administrator of the estate of Billy J. Tracy, deceased. Earl Long was appointed Administrator of the estate of Mable Long, deceased. The following item approved on the agenda was to confirm probating the Will of Willard Falls and the appointment of Rosalee Falls, Execturix; and to confirm probating the Will of Dorvil Taylor and the appointment of Harold Taylor, Executor. Jill Zegeer Dunn, Executrix DMN of the estate of Arthur W. Zegeer, deceased was approved for appointment. The final settlement report for the estate of Roscoe Falls, deceased was approved.
A motion to designate the number of poll workers for the upcoming May 10, 2016 Primary Election was approved to proceed with the meeting. Each of the eleven precincts will have two Democratic Receiving Commissioners, one Democratic Poll Clerk, one Republican Poll Clerk, and one Republican Receiving Commissioner.
A request by the Clay County Parks & Recreation board to remove Cayla Black for non-attendance and appoint Mitchell DeBoard for the unexpired term was approved. A motion to approve a Resolution authorizing the submission of a grant to the US Department of Agriculture Rural Development to purchase a new 4-wheel drive Ambulance was approved. The grant will only cover part of the cost. The audit report of Clay County for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014 was approved as well. A motion to support the Clay County Housing Authority’s decision to hire Gateway Management Services, LLC to manage Anderson Heights and High Street Apartments was approved to finish off the items on the agenda. There will be an LEPC meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Health Department at 7:00pm. The next county commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10:00AM.
