A Clay County man has been arrested after attacking a television reporter with his own camera tripod. On Monday afternoon WCHS reporter Bob Aaron traveled to the Bomont area to investigate a tip concerning neglected horses and mules. Once at the location Aaron set up his camera in the middle of the road, which is public property, to begin coverage of the story. The property owner, 54 year old Howard Jeffery Lilly, confronted Aaron. “He came up off of his property onto the roadway,” Aaron said. “And before we could have much of a conversation further about it he came at me grabbed the tripod and starting hitting me with it. He broke the camera lens and gave me a couple of pretty good shots before we left.” Bob Aaron was taken to the hospital as a precaution but luckily only suffered some deep tissue bruising. Lilly was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with felony destruction of property, grand larceny and malicious wounding.
