Regardless of how the season ended for the Panther baseball, it ended on a high note as well. Seven of the Panthers were recognized by the LKC. Also, there was one player acknowledged that went above and beyond the field of play. His leadership and outstanding abilities to play the game of baseball earned him the LKC Player of the Year. This award is given to the player who takes the game of baseball to a new level where mental attitude, integrity, and sportsmanship are as important as playing the game. A player who, because of their abilities and skill, inspires others to either play or watch the game with a whole new outlook. The recipient of this great award was Cooper Osborne, catcher for the CCHS Panthers. Cooper personifies the sport of baseball and epitomizes a baseball player. For most of his life he has gripped a baseball, has been a student and a leader of the game and has never had to tell people how good he is, he went on the field and proved it. LKC Player of the Year is only given to those who champion dedication to the sport and have proven that it is not about winning or losing but about the hours, weeks, months and years they have spent in preparation for each and every game they played to give a hundred percent, one hundred percent of the time. Cooper’s skill and commitment to baseball earned him the highest individual award by the LKC, and it is well deserved. Cooper is the son of John and Traci Osborne of Pisgah. Congratulations to Cooper Osborne on receiving this great honor. Cooper was also selected as 1st team, All LKC team catcher. Also receiving awards were Noah Taylor who received the LKC 2nd team infield award, Colten Moore who received the LKC 2nd team pitcher award, Jared Legg who received special honorable mention infield, Caleb Wynn who received special honorable mention outfield, Zach Ahart and Blake Belcher who both received honorable mention. Congratulations to all these players.
