Beautiful weather brought ninety classic cars to Bradley Field on Saturday to support the We Care Club through the Clay Golden Delicious Festival Car Show. From Studebakers to Mack trucks and everything in between, Clay High was a car lover’s dream. Starting early in the morning and continuing through afternoon, the event was enjoyed by all who attended. Talk of old times and good memories could be heard all around. In addition to the top 50 awards, special trophy awards included Best Mopar – Kevin Hartshorn, Best GM – Joe Snodgrass, Best Truck – Tim Wilson, Best Muscle Car – Mike Parsons, Best Classic – Shirley McMillion, Best Rat Rod – Allen Edens, Sponsor’s Choice – Thomas Richards, Best Ford – Randy Dodd, Queen’s Choice – Roy Layton, We Care Club Choice – Mike Nichols, Best Foreign – Randall Workman and Best of Show – Calvin Wilson. This year’s car show included a new specialty trophy for Best Pedal Car, which was awarded to six year old Jeffery Sams.
An auction was held to sell a variety of collectibles and gifts and each participant received a very nice door prize with their entry into the show. The event was a great success, largely in part to the volunteers who donate countless hours and the continuing support of Cunningham Motors. Special thanks also goes to Clay County Bank for the $150.00 gift card door prize, Joe Mullins for the donation of children’s bicycles, and to American Mountain Theater, Mountain Rail Adventures and Holiday Inn in Elkins for the donation of the Grand Prize of a weekend excursion. A yearlong effort for organizers paid off when over $3,000 was collected for the Clay High School We Care Club, which will be used to help local families.
